Biographical / Historical
The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi began at University of Maine at Orono, 1897. The primary objectives of the Society are to promote the pursuit of excellence in all fields of higher education and to recognize outstanding achievement by students, faculty, and others through election to membership, and through various awards for distinguished achievement. On October 15, 1976, the Board of Directors of Phi Kappa Phi authorized the establishment of a campus chapter (#197) of the Society at Lewis and Clark College.
