Scope and Contents
This collection consists of 37 boxes containing materials related to Gary Moulton's writing and editing process for his thirteen volume Journals of the Lewis & Clark Expedition. The collection materials include various correspondences, grant acquisitions, repository and travel materials, volume draft materials, and published journals, magazines, and books about the Lewis and Clark expedition.

Biographical / Historical
Series 1-3 of this collection was donated to Lewis & Clark College in 2021 by Gary E. Moulton. Series 4 was donated to Lewis and Clark College in 2017, and was previously processed as the Lewis and Clark Expedition Publications, 1897-2014.
Gary E. Moulton is an emeritus professor of American history at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is well-recognized for his editing and publishing of The Journals of the Lewis and Clark Expedition in thirteen volumes. He is the recipient of the J. Franklin Jameson Award of the American Historical Association for the editing of the Lewis and Clark Journals, and the Outstanding Research and Creative Activity Award from the University of Nebraska.
